Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography

ERCP is a highly specialized endoscopic procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the bile ducts, gallbladder, and pancreas. At Southwest Gastroenterology, our skilled team performs ERCP to evaluate blockages, tumors, stones, and strictures in the biliary and pancreatic systems. This procedure combines endoscopy with fluoroscopic imaging for optimal precision.

During ERCP, a thin endoscope is passed through the mouth into the small intestine. A contrast dye is injected into the bile or pancreatic ducts, allowing X-ray visualization. Interventions such as stone removal, stent placement, or sphincterotomy can be performed during the same session.

ERCP is often recommended for patients with jaundice, abnormal liver function tests, recurrent pancreatitis, or bile duct obstructions. Early detection and treatment can prevent complications and improve quality of life.
Though minimally invasive, ERCP requires expertise and experience to ensure safety and effectiveness. Our team uses the latest techniques and equipment to minimize risks and maximize outcomes.

At Southwest Gastroenterology, we are proud to offer ERCP as part of our comprehensive approach to managing complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders.
