Endoscopic Treatment of Gastroparesis (G-POEM)
G-POEM, or Gastric Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy, is a breakthrough procedure designed to treat gastroparesis—a condition that delays the emptying of the stomach due to nerve or muscle dysfunction. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, bloating, and early satiety.
During G-POEM, an endoscope is used to create a tunnel through the stomach wall to access and cut the pyloric sphincter muscle. This helps the stomach empty more efficiently, reducing symptoms and improving digestion.
G-POEM is less invasive than traditional surgical approaches and has shown promising results in clinical studies. Patients typically recover quickly and experience long-term symptom relief.
At Southwest Gastroenterology, we bring advanced endoscopic solutions like G-POEM to our patients with hard-to-treat digestive disorders. Our specialists will evaluate your symptoms and health history to determine if you’re a good candidate.
Our team is proud to offer cutting-edge, minimally invasive therapies to help patients regain control of their gastrointestinal health and live more comfortably.
